Truly, truly, truly outrageous. That said, the credits sequence of the cartoon was more exciting and evocative than any of the episodes that followed (they usually involved Jem and/or Jerrica thwarting the Misfits through the Goodness of Her Heart and the Power of Music, or something). I had a Jem doll when I was a kid, although my mother balked at getting it for me because it cost the princely sum of fifteen dollars, far more than a Barbie, and therefore I never had any of Jem's friends. Her earrings, however, did have flashing lights. The Barbies really enjoyed her blue-striped Jerrica dress as well.
