"Big Name Fan": A fan well-known enough in her (and it's almost always "her") given fandom that complete strangers know her by name. Typically a BNF got her "big name" by writing fanfic or running a website; as such, she may well have fangirls of her own. The bigger the BNF, the greater the likelihood of her ending up on Fandom Wank.
