April 9, 2009: In which The Littlest Edward tends his ponies, Galadriel has a warning, and Lizzie goes on a bender.

  He waved his hand in a broad, glum gesture at the little carry-case stable. "This is my life now."

"Well, once they've settled down for the night, you can scrapbook a little. Or write in your journal!"

"What do I have to write about? April 6th: 'Exercised tiny pastel horses. Fed them. Combed them. Nobody likes me.'"

"I just can't--I don't see it the same way she does, it's so black-and-white for her. He shouldn't have attacked the bear, but things happen, you know? You have to move on at some point, live and let live." She took off her hat and ran her hands through her hair. "I sent a man to his death, and even he got over that!"

Notes

• "While the guest post at geekgirldiva's blog was technically off-story...": The two "setups" in that entry are Galadriel reading the alethiometer and a mention of rum. There's one more clue in that entry regarding a future post, however.

• As I mentioned on Twitter before posting the entry, Edward's pitchfork is, in fact, a dessert fork.

• In the original outline I'd planned out (I write down ideas in advance, but not really formal drafts), Edward was going to ranch MLPs as a sustainable source of food. Like a dairy farm, really. However, we were so awash in fiber after the wool that arrived in You've Got Mail that pony "blood" seemed superfluous at that point. But that section of the entry should answer people's questions as to whether 1) Iorek was affected by the sparklepire "venom" and 2) whether sparklepires would want to attack other dolls.

• We will follow up on "I need to practice self-control" in future entries.

• In taking the pictures, I forgot to add in Elizabeth's new "booty," which is actually really cute. I'll have to put that in next time.

• "I sent a man to his death, and even he got over that!": This would refer to the kiss at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

• Ironically, all of Elizabeth Swann's rum-fueled carousing in the first POTC is a put-on.

• "STAY GOLD, PONYBOY!": I had been looking for an opportunity to drop that reference since the moment TLE first got his ponies.

• "Can dolls even die?": This is a follow-up to a conversation I had on a previous entry regarding "doll mortality," which in turn involved a story arc I'd already planned.

• The rum in the last picture is actually a bottle of Havana Club I bought while I was in Cuba (January 2001, for a senior project in college--and man, let me tell you, that is not a trip you'd be able to take today). Lizzie's "glass" is the plastic cap off some pump bottle or other, and she's actually "drinking" stunt rum, as it were (iced tea)--no, really, because we drank the last of the real rum when we smuggled it into an opening-night showing of... Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
